Dude, What?: The Notebook 2
I’ve been seeing a lot of crap about Star Wars lately wherein the director and actors are on the warpath against fans yet again due to the Acolyte. It’s fascinating because once upon a time, the internet was viewed as amazing because it gave creators direct contact with their audiences. Feedback was instantaneous. You could get a general feel for if something was liked or hated.
To take the collective opinions of thousands of fans, call them wrong, attack them, and openly admit that you are trying to get rid of them in favor of getting a new audience is kind of insane. People have legitimate criticisms about The Acolyte (which I’ll dive more into with my next installment of Dude, Fix It). Throwing them to the side because you think the attacks are about sexual orientation or race instead of completely deviating from an IP’s heritage and insulting your fans.
It’s been a thing with Disney and a few other studios lately where a film will come out, bomb because it sucks, and it’s never the director or producer’s fault. If I post a comic or write something and people hate it, I get defensive at first. I’m human. But ultimately I’ll try to swallow my pride, understand where criticism is coming from, and try to incorporate it for future projects. I am not perfect.
Anyway, this is a little summary. Working on a post for tomorrow where I’ll try give constructive feedback about The Acolyte with another Dude, Fix It.
